The person whose heart you needed to stay open to you may not have been able to do it back then. - But you can give yourself this gift right now. - It's not easy, because self doubt can be a strong force. - But you can find your own big, kind and gentle love for all parts of yourself. - Bit by bit. There's no rush. There's no race. - If you like, you can try finding one physical sensation within yourself that you are aware of right in this moment. It doesn't need to be the strongest or the most important. Just something that you can focus your attention on very briefly. - If you like, gently bring your attention to that place, that sensation for 1 second. - If it feels ok, you might say to that sensation, "I feel you." Or it might be OK to add "You are right there, and I am right there with you." - It's OK if that last sentence feels too much. You can leave that out. - You may find different words that are more fitting for you and this part of you, in this moment. - It might be OK for that sensation to be there just as it is, without needing to change or be anything else. - If you haven't already, you can let your attention go, and move to wherever it would like to. - That may be plenty for now. - Briefly befriending one part of yourself for one moment, may be enough to begin a friendship with yourself where at some point there might be enough room for all parts of yourself at the same time. - But for now, opening to all those parts at once may be too much. And that's OK. - One part at a time. - Gently, slowly opening to one part of yourself. Then perhaps another when the time is right. - Maybe more over time. - Bit by bit. - Building trust one friendly moment at a time. - You are your best gift. - -

Not being enough focused? Who knows 🤷 I can't change the present moment so, what I always choose to do in this situations is to continue with my practice in a very slow & soft mode. . . The benefits of meditation for chronic diseases: The epigenetic clock is a measure of aging that evaluates DNA markers, particularly a process called DNA methylation. Anyone have lower back pain?? 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️When I teach yoga, 90% of the people who attend my classes share that they come for the stretching part of it. Sure the quietness and mindfulness is great, but that's not why they started coming. They share stories of aching shoulders and necks, lower back pain, and limitations in the way thier bodies move. And when they leave class, they feel better. They report less tightness, slow and steady inprovements, and even sleeping better! Stretching is such an integral part of a daily routine as we age!!! The more I learn, the more I want to share. Would anyone be interested in taking a group stretch class (virtually, of course) from yours truly?? These desires signal self-doubt and self-dislike.⁣ ⁣ • DO I LIKE ME? What part(s) of myself do I feel self-conscious of and negative toward that cause me to seek this external validation?⁣ ⁣ • How can I learn to like these parts of myself more, or at least learn to support and not harshly judge myself?⁣ ⁣ • And WHAT IF THEY DON’T like me? Finish that thought. Visit that empty space: what if they don’t? Follow this thought to its origin point—how can you move through being disliked with self-respect and grace?⁣ ⁣ ✨Have the courage to be disliked.✨⁣ It’s not about “them.” Do you like you?

❤️DAY 13❤️ of #transylvaniayogachallenge Today's pose is Anjaneyasana or Crescent Lunge pose, a deep hip and chest opening. In my personal practice I like to do a series of kriyas to soften my lung tissues and open up the energetic blockages in my neck before going into Anjaneyasana. In the pose, I draw my shoulders up, bring my fingers into Kali mudra and as I backbend, I follow the mudra with my eyes creating more and more space in my chest and elongation in the back of my neck. Meanwhile I let my hips melt forward always taking care that my front knee doesn't pass over my ankle. ✨Lord of the Dance Pose or King Dancer Pose or Natarajasana✨ . . King Dancer puts our bodies into a beautiful shape and is a fun way to practice balance and concentration. . . A physical embodiment of King Nataraja, symbolizing lord Shiva, Lord of the Dance pose is a tribute to this powerful God of destruction. Embracing destruction and even death as part of the cycle of change and growth, this pose is a helpful reminder that no good can exist without evil, no birth without death. In most depictions of King Nataraja, he is standing on one leg gazing over the head of a small dwarf, whose presence represents ignorance. In this way, Lord of the Dance pose encourages our consciousness to elevate above ignorance, above the common thoughts and misunderstandings that cloud our view. The balance that comes from the pose awakens our understanding that clarity brings steadiness. . . It also reminds us not to get swept up in our own mundane dramas and instead choose liberation from fear-binding thoughts. “God is a deep underground river that no one can dam up and no one can stop” - Meister Eckhart ~ How can we tap into the eternal source of clear water? ~ We can do this with any intentional practice: silence, prayer, Yoga, writing, dancing, painting, any devotional act... . . The key is to go back to this practice again and again. Mary Oliver calls the practice of returning again and again to our Yoga Mat, our writing desk, our silent walks, etc, “keeping the appointment”. . . When it is dark and we feel heavy, sometimes we need to cancel the appointment. There will come a point though, when we know it’s time to move some energy and JUST DO IT. It may feel slightly uncomfortable, but we do it anyway. We do it because we are here having a human experience seeking a connection to ourselves, each-other, and divinity. Our devotional practice is the way in 💫🙏💫 . So off I go to practice Kundalini Yoga ~ move some Prana & “keep the appointment”

The breath is one of our most vital functions. Without the breath, we do not live. In yoga, breathing techniques are called 'pranayama'. Prana can be translated as 'life energy', and yama as 'expansion'. This means that breathing improves the use of life energy. And that, in turn, is really what yoga therapy is all about: choosing to live your life fully. Start to take a deep breath each morning, to open up, to fill up with new energy. Recently I spent time with some colleagues in Oklahoma, one of whom is a gifted energy practitioner. I had been having some problems with my knees, and I suspected that the problems were metaphysical in nature. I shared my experience with my friend and she asked me if the sensation I felt was mine? She prefaced the question by saying that I shouldn't intellectualize the question, and should answer intuitively. I did, and to my surprise, the discomfort left almost immediately. During the experience, the observer aspect noted that this is exactly the way I access psychic intuition and directives. After coming home I decided to try the technique out on a few other areas of disease in my life. They weren't physical in nature, but they were things (thoughts, feelings, memories, and emotions) that were causing some sort of stress. I suspected I would have a similar result. Sure enough, I did, and it reminded me that part of the work is looking at our experience and identifying what is truly ours. You see, so often society, community, family and even friends inadvertently project their belief system (BS) onto us in an unconscious attempt to connect. Unknowingly we take on the burden of others and internalize it letting it settle into our bodies. Scanning your body and checking in to see what sensations are yours and what are the projections of others can be a valuable tool in healing and self-preservation. To remain empowered, balanced, acknowledged and strong in our experience we have to trust in our internal wisdom and connect with inner knowing. As we move into the holiday take time to check-in and make peace with the messengers that are coming to call. PERIODIZAÇÃO Já quero começar essa postagem dizendo que o único ser humaninho que é capacitado e habilitado para periodizar seu treino é o profissional de educação física. Então, por favor, não procure aquele seu amigo que tem um "shape" legal para montar seu treino, porque ele não terá embasamento algum para isso, a não ser o que ele leu por aí por conta e o que vê no YouTube. A primeira coisa que a gente precisa entender é um conceito chamado individualidade biológica, que diz que cada pessoa possui um biotipo e características diferentes. Isso não significa que um é magrinho e eu precise treina-lo com mais carga e menos repetição, e que o outro é gordinho e eu precise que ele treine com menos carga e até a fadiga. Isso significa que cada pessoa tem um organismo que responde de uma maneira ao treinamento, que cada um tem um monte de desvios posturais e vários grupos musculares hiperativos e inibidos que precisam de correção, que cada um tem uma amplitude de movimento, uma flexibilidade diferente etc. É muito complexo montar uma tabela de treinamento bem pensada, ainda levando em conta que é de bom grado que passemos pelo treinamento de força, pelo tensional e pelo metabólico em diferentes momentos dos ciclos de periodização, para que nosso organismo receba estímulos diferentes. Para continuar vendo resultados mesmo após anos de treinamento e não estagnar é necessário o acompanhamento de um personal trainer. Tenha em mente que sua parceria com o personal trainer não deve ser passageira, porque é esse profissional que pensará em metas a curto, médio e longo prazo.
